SACRAMENTS OF HEALING / SACRAMENTOS DE SANACION
1420 Through the sacraments of Christian initiation, man receives the new life of Christ. Now we carry this life "in earthen vessels," and it remains "hidden with Christ in God."1 We are still in our "earthly tent," subject to suffering, illness, and death.2 This new life as a child of God can be weakened and even lost by sin.
1421 The Lord Jesus Christ, physician of our souls and bodies, who forgave the sins of the paralytic and restored him to bodily health,3 has willed that his Church continue, in the power of the Holy Spirit, his work of healing and salvation, even among her own members. This is the purpose of the two sacraments of healing: the sacrament of Penance and the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. (CCC)
1420 Por los sacramentos de la iniciación cristiana, el hombre recibe la vida nueva de Cristo. Ahora bien, esta vida la llevamos en "vasos de barro" (2 Co 4,7). Actualmente está todavía "escondida con Cristo en Dios" (Col 3,3). Nos hallamos aún en "nuestra morada terrena" (2 Co 5,1), sometida al sufrimiento, a la enfermedad y a la muerte. Esta vida nueva de hijo de Dios puede ser debilitada e incluso perdida por el pecado.
1421 El Señor Jesucristo, médico de nuestras almas y de nuestros cuerpos, que perdonó los pecados al paralítico y le devolvió la salud del cuerpo (cf Mc 2,1-12), quiso que su Iglesia continuase, en la fuerza del Espíritu Santo, su obra de curación y de salvación, incluso en sus propios miembros. Este es finalidad de los dos sacramentos de curación: del sacramento de la Penitencia y de la Unción de los enfermos.
